'Third place' is a sociology term for places that are not our home (first place) or work (second place). Third places help us unwind and reconnect with ourselves and others. They provide an invaluable sense of community and connection.

Welcome to The Third Place Books!

We are beyond excited that you have chosen us for your dosage of shrills, chills and thrills. We stock highly rated and indie fiction horror, mystery, crime, thrillers and romance novels. We support independent authors and Australian publishers.

We are an independent online bookstore owned by local residents of the City of Canada Bay, NSW, Australia. The Third Place Books is a small stepping stone and beginning of a long held dream - to provide people with a third place where they can escape, explore and immerse themselves away from the humdrum of everyday routine.

We hope one day to grow our small online store into a brick & mortar within the City of Canada Bay, so we can finally provide our community with a true third place. A place for serendipitous encounters, gathering of like-minded people and a community space welcoming to all. Every purchase gets us closer to that dream and we thank you, our customers, for helping us get there.

We are committed to our community and the invaluable gift of reading and writing. 10 cents from each book sold is donated to the Smith Family. We wanted to help spread the joy of reading and life-long learning to our future generations, because at the end of the day, that’s truly what the third place is - an indiscriminate place of belonging, community and unity.
