Where are you located?
We are an online bookstore operating out of the City of Canada Bay in New South Wales, Australia
Can I pick-up/ click and collect my order?
Unfortunately as we are currently an online-only business, we are unable to offer pick-up or click & collect services at this stage.
What is your Shipping & Return Policy?
We currently only ship Australia-wide. Our main delivery partner is Australia Post. Please see our Shipping Policy for full details such a delivery timeframes and costs.
We have a 14-day return policy, which means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return. Creased, ripped, fanned or otherwise damaged books or other products are not eligible for return.
The pre-loved collection is not eligible for return unless you received the incorrect product or a product that is damaged well beyond what was advertised. Please see our Returns Policy for full details.
Are your books paperback or hardcover?
All our books are paperback, unless specified as hardcover in the description.
What is the 'Trendsetter' collection?
Our Trendsetter collection features books with less than 5,000 ratings on GoodReads.
This collection is ideal for those looking for unique or niche reads, or looking to support smaller authors.
This collection is perfect for you if you are a booktoker, bookstagramer or blogger as these books are great for fresh and different social media content.

How does The Third Place Books ratings work?
Our team is free to select any book of their choice and provide a rating out of 5, and a short review. Ratings displayed for these reviewed books are the aggregated rating of all staff who read them, and as such may change overtime. The short comment aims to capture key opinions of the staff to provide the customer additional insight into the book.
Why is your website's GoodReads rating different to the rating on GoodReads?
We endeavour to keep the GoodReads ratings on our website up-to-date. These are updated once a quarter. Any changes to the ratings on GoodReads during that time is not reflected until we do our quarterly update.
Our staff are human, and human errors do happen. If you find one that is completely wrong, please let us know via thethirdplacebooks@outlook.com.
Do you price match?
Yes! We price match with Australian bookstores that have the stock available and can be dispatched in 5 business days or less (note: this doesn't include department stores such as Big W or Kmart).
We do not price match our pre-loved collection.
If you would like to price match any of our books, please contact us at thethirdplacebooks@outlook.com with the URL & screenshot image of the lower price. We ask for the URL & screenshot to ensure validity and in case we are unable to respond to you before the other store changes their price.
If eligible for price matching, you will be provided with a one-time discount code valid for 7 days. After the 7 days, if you wish to take advantage of our price matching again for the same product, we will require a URL & screenshot image again.
Please note, price matching cannot be used in conjunction with any other discounts, sales or offers unless otherwise stated.
The book I want is sold out - when will you re-stock it?
Please let us know which sold out book you are wanting via our contact form.
As a specialised bookstore, we keep our range small to ensure we can bring our customers the best price and an unique reading experience. As such, we try our best to balance re-stocking popular books and ensuring we have a new and fresh collection of books for our customers.
Do you provide discounts for book clubs?
Yes! If you are purchasing 3 or more of the same book in a single order, you are eligible for our book club discount.

Do you buy back books?
Yes! We buy back books bought from us or anywhere else. We buy them back for up to 30% of their retail value based on the condition of the book and demand for the title.
To get an exact quote on your books, please email the following details to thethirdplacebooks@outlook.com:
- ISBN number (found on the back near the barcode)
- Clear photos of the front, back, and all sides
- Your postcode
What condition are your second-hand books in?
We strive to provide an accurate representation of our pre-loved collection to ensure customer satisfaction. Each product listing contains a video showcasing all angles of the book and any marking or damage on the inside (if applicable).
My order hasn’t arrived. What do I do?
Delays may have been caused by incorrect delivery information or other unforeseen circumstances. We always reach out to customers to inform them of any delays as we take great pride in our customer service. Please check your email (including the junk folder) for any correspondence from us.

Do you take on consignment?
- Books must be in new, good and unused condition
- Have a valid ISBN
- Be professionally edited with a marketable cover
- Be a fictional book in the romance, horror, crime, mystery or thriller genre
